The Bakers started the with real intensity this week with goals early. Was this intentional?
The intention this week was to learn from last week which I believed we have, but we have to keep that going for the season not just the next game. We asked the lads to play balls into the strikers with tempo or in behind so we could put them on the back foot and if they was to win the first ball we was to react better for the second ball.
You mentioned the team needing to be more clinical going forward. Was it nice to get a few in the net for team confidence?
Yes again this is something we have been working on in training and there we are firing really well so we knew it was a matter of time before we put 4 or 5 past someone. I believe in the 4 strikers we have all offering different things which for the first time this season we had the option of using. Lee worked extremely hard for the team and turned stray balls into our possession even at 4-0 up. It was good to see Jamie score a few as we believe he has great talent and expect a lot from him this year. Kiel and Barlow are also very hard working players who will run all day which is a coaches dream. Oxby making late runs from midfield also helped to open up spaces for other players.
White Ensign will be another tough game. How will you keep the players motivated to perform at the same level
The team know we have a strong squad and there is no player that can rely on his last performance. We have a bigger and more competitive squad this year so there will be an element of rotation so we can maintain the squad and that's going to be my challenge. Having players missing for 3 to 4 weeks such as Daniel Alexander and Conor Okus who have performed well has given me a real headache. White Ensign are used to playing on 3G and we always have a tough game there and with players missing this week I expect nothing but a tough game.
