Wetherall wants to keep picking up wins

By Andy Everett

Report by Jacob Ranson of Barking & Dagenham Post

Bakers travel away to face the Rovers on Saturday as they look to continue their impressive run in the Thurlow Nunn Division One South this season.

“We have played Wormley and have watched them recently so we know plenty about them,” Wetherall said.

“They have turned their season round and are doing really well so credit to them as a club for doing so.

“We must keep picking up the wins and have every confidence in doing so, the cup games means we are falling behind in league games having played the least in the league

“We’re still fifth so that is credit to these lot but another reason why we made sure this season we had a better in depth squad as we wanted to push on in the cups.

“This obviously leads to a build up in games which will come thick and fast but the lads are more than ready.”

They go into the match on the back of a 1-0 victory against Braintree Town Reserves thanks to a goal from Daniel Gilchrist.

“I’m very pleased with the result as we was forced to make changes to the squad during the week so we could not keep the same squad following the win in the vase.

“We then had had to make two more forced changes at 2:30pm and another one minute after half time.

“But that’s three wins from three and the squad is full of confidence.

“The lads need to take a lot from that game with five players playing out of position due to changes.

“We had to make we was very much a make shift side and with the plans going out the window, we adapted well and managed the game on the pitch very well limiting them to very few opportunities.

Wetherall praised the players who had to play out of position during the match.

“Special mention this week to the skipper Richard Oxby who covered at left back, Sam Dickens who covered at right back, Bezmir Hoxhaj covering left wing and Reece Tranter covering at right wing.

“All four lads worked incredibly hard and played against players with pace.”
