Substitute Alex Owuadey netted a brace as May & Baker twice came from behind to progress into the second round proper of the Buildbase FA Vase.
Bakers sealed a 4-2 win over Spartan South Midlands Premier Division side North Greenford United to bag £825 in prize money at Barking Rugby Club.
“For the club to enter the FA vase was a huge achievement in its self,” Wetherall said.
“The club is a charity registered club and runs purely on the hard work of the people behind the scenes.
“We played Burnham and Saffron Walden in the qualifying rounds and scored 12 goals in them two games so we were full of confidence going into the game.
“We knew the game would be tough, we watched them and knew they are a well organised side.
“The scale of the achievement having key players away and beating a team from divisions above us again is just huge.
“It shows the character we have amongst this squad.”
Bakers have since been drawn at home to Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League First Division North side Swaffham Town in the second round.
“The Swaffham Town draw will be our biggest test as we know nothing about them they are 110 miles away from our ground so we have nothing to go on.
“The lads will go into the game fully prepared and focused knowing they have a job to do but also knowing that every game now is a bonus.
“With next to no sponsors the prize money has helped out massively as players, staff and the board have been putting money in from their own pockets.
“The captain Richard Oxby has paid for coaches to away games it’s over £400 and that’s the love these lads have for each other.
“It’s goes above anything I’ve had around me before in a squad.”
Redbridge Ricky Eaton praised Wetherall’s side achievement’s in the Vase competition and hopes they continue to progress.
“Redbridge is a club close to my heart, my self my granddad and my dad were all involved in the club when Jimmy Chapman was chairman and Fords United played out of there.
“I went on to manage Redbridge reserves with Mark Holloway, there’s a lot of history there for me so to get credit from Ricky is a compliment we take as a team.
“But your question about getting how it feels to get recognition, it’s not for me to take it’s for the lads, I love this game.”
